The New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD) is a pledge by African leaders to eradicate poverty and to place their countries on a path of sustainable growth and development. NEPAD aims to establish a "new" framework of interaction with the rest of the world, including the industrialized countries and multilateral organizations to lift African GDP growth. Africa's Policy Challenges in 2002 (Progressive Response)
Jointly Foreign Policy In Focus and Africa Action have produced a policy report surveying the policy challenges in Africa this coming year. The report was written by William Minter and Salih Booker, the Executive Director of Africa Action. "Human Rights and Poverty Eradication: A Talisman for the Commonwealth"
The report focuses on unacceptable levels of poverty in the Commonwealth. It demands that Commonwealth states unequivocally recognize that the persistence of poverty is a serious human rights violation and one that requires a genuine rights-based approach as the only effective and immediate solution.
